Skiving Cutting

Skiving Cutting is a fundamental production process for other foam fabrication processes such as steel die-cutting, CNC contour cut and foam lamination. It functions similar to convoluted cutting, but slices foam sheet into same thickness, not in convoluted shape. FoamInsider uses high efficient skiving cutter for all of our foam products with industry standard tolerances. By utilizing handy foam skiver, we can precisely slice thick and large foam sheet into custom thin sheet with smooth surface finishing.

With professional foam skiver, we are able to cut foam sheet into any customers required sheet thicknesses. The original foam sheet usually comes as thick bun or block with process skin on both sides. The outer process skin mostly presents foam in unacceptable and unaesthetic surface finish. After treated by skiving cutting, uneven outer skin can be easily removed and foam sheet will be made in a smooth and refined finish.

Our skiver can work with a wide range of foam materials including EVA foam, Polyethylene foam, EPP foam, Foam rubber material and so on. Skiving cutting can make us fabricate foam sheets at hardness around 10 degree shore C to 70 degree shore C. Skiving cutting is able to work with sheet thickness even at 0.5 mm (1/5 inches) and width up to 1.6 meters (62 inches).

Main Advantages:

  • High efficient machinery to custom cut desired foam sheet thicknesses
  • Capable of skiving both ultra soft and high hardness foam sheets
  • Versatile to work on a wide range of foam material including EVA foam, PE foam and EPP foam etc..
